[NCAH] the question of tenure in Public schools

The issue of tenure has been a hot button for the past few years across 
the country and especially here in North Carolina.  I just read this 
story in the NY Times [see link below] and thought that I'd share it 
with my colleagues.  This, of course is only part of the problem...the 
general perception about tenure at all levels of education seems to me 
to in intricately tied up with an unhealthy approach the educational 
process as a business...a model that enables "bosses" to hire and fire" 
with few restrictions.  What do you think?
